JNE Environmental has designed and is currently manufacturing a 40 m3/hr dual Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) wastewater treatment system for a European plastic recycling company that is building a new facility in Canada. This plastic recycling process represents a unique and significant impact to the environment and JNE is proud to play a role in the process. This project is the largest project in JNE Environmental’s history and is commissioning in late 2019.
An environmental and sustainability solutions group approached JNE Environmental to supply two PM-2000 polymer make-down units as components to a larger wastewater treatment system. JNE Environmental was selected for the project because of the smaller physical footprint of our units, as well as very competitive cost.
When applied to a facility’s toxic liquid stream, the nickel is absorbed into the agents’ stabilizing matrix, and the water is absorbed into the polymer. The resulting solution, a gelatinous solid, can be safely and cost-effectively recycled, leading to an estimated 400% cost-savings to the client.
High pressure descale sprays are critical to the proper performance of continuous casters, roughing mills, and hot mills. These systems run at very high volumes (over 150,000 litres per minute) and very high pressures (3,000 psi). JNE Environmental was contacted by a grower in Ontario experiencing major issues with the facility’s wastewater stream pH. The nature of their production lead to low pH discharge water to the City’s sanitary sewer system resulting in several fines. The Company was facing future letters of non-compliance. They reached out to JNE Environmental for help.
Last week, JNE Environmental was invited by one of our customers to present our containerized DAF-based wastewater treatment system to 30 members of the Municipal Enforcement Sewer Use Group (MESUG). This group consists of Municipal Environmental Officers, By-Law Officers, Wastewater Operators, Environmental Technicians, Managers, and Administrators across Ontario.

Most restaurants and factories have grease traps and interceptors, sump pits, and sludge waste holding tanks. These traps and tanks are emptied and cleaned out on a regular basis by vacuum trucks that offload at a central processing plant.
