Sewer Bylaw Compliance

Have you been issued a Notice of Violation? These letters can be confusing or frustrating to sift through. We can help.

Your city or municipality will periodically install a composite sampler to validate compliance with local sewer use bylaws. These samplers will be installed at the manhole cover prior to tie-in to the main sanitary sewer line. If the sample shows non-compliance with local sewer bylaws, the city will send a Notice of Violation letter — these letters can be a source of confusion or frustration as they do not include available resources to help you address the next steps that you can take.

JNE Environmental can help. We can review your facility to determine if the violation was a “one off” occurrence or if these violations are more uniquely problematic. We can help develop corrective actions that range from the very simple — effluent equalization or pH correction — to complete, custom designed systems capable of removing Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)/Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Phosphorous, Fats, Oils and Greases (FOG), metals, and various other pollutants.

We can also supply and install a discreet sampler as well as temporary flow measurement equipment to monitor your wastewater quality and quantity. This can be used to validate these potential violations, or if you currently have a surcharge agreement in place, it can be used to validate the sewer surcharge costs and to help develop a business case for treatment prior to discharge.
