System Design
+ Supply

JNE Environmental can design, manufacture, and supply a custom wastewater treatment process to suit your needs.

Our years of hands-on experience and service expertise can help solve your toughest wastewater problems.  Contact us today for a free, no obligation site visit — we will demonstrate the capabilities of our wastewater treatment products through onsite jar testing, small scale pilot plants, rental equipment, and more.

The steps involved with the design of a new wastewater treatment system can include:

A site visit to learn about the wastewater and perform jar tests will allow us to determine how effectively the wastewater can be treated. This is determined by comparing Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)/Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), total phosphorous as well as total Fats, Oils, and Greases (FOG) before and after treatment. Based on the success of the treatment we can develop a budget number for the chemical costs as well as an estimate for the equipment costs.

In Step 1, we performed a random sample analysis. Next, we install a composite sampler and flow meter to validate the results achieved in Step 1 and to gauge how the wastewater changes throughout the day, week, or month. With this data, we update our chemical consumption estimates and fine tune the average and peak flow rates for overall system design. We can also provide a 10 gallon per minute (gpm) pilot plant along with a rental Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit for further design and performance validation.

A process flow diagram shows the major components of the proposed system. This includes equalization tanks, pumps, dissolved air flotation (DAF), clarifiers, sludge thickening tanks, and dewatering equipment.

Once the process flow diagram is completed, we can design a general layout. This helps the client validate if they have sufficient facility space available, or if a building addition is required. As part of The JNE Group of Companies, JNE Environmental has access to all of the required engineering knowledge, as well as installation contractors to develop complete estimates for additional buildings, services, and installation costs.
Once the general arrangement of the equipment has been finalized, we develop a detailed piping and instrumentation diagram. This diagram contains detailed information on tank sizes and dimensions, pipe sizes and flow rates, pump sizes, location and specification for instrumentation, and equipments specifications. A lump sum quote can be provided for all equipment once the P & ID is completed.
Once equipment is finalized, detail engineering can begin. Detail engineering includes: foundation design, equipment placement, piping routing, power and utilities distribution, etc. Upon completion of construction engineering, a full package of drawings is ready for bidding to installation contractors.

All of the required system equipment is manufactured and shipped to site. If a building is required, the erection of the building must be completed prior to equipment arrival.

The first step for equipment installation is the placement of all large pieces of equipment and tanks. This is followed by the installation of interconnecting piping, and then electrical connections.
The first step in commissioning is individual equipment power up. An IO (input/output) check is completed — this involves validating that all pieces of equipment can start and stop and all required sensors measure accurately and are properly calibrated. Next comes the commissioning of all control loops and the tuning of controllers to achieve the desired process result such as pH control, tank level control, etc. The final stage is the commissioning of various sequences such as tank fill, dissolved air flotation (DAF) start, dosing pump start, high and low level alarms, etc. Lastly, the entire system is run to validate the desired effluent water parameters are met.
JNE Environmental’s commitment does not end when commissioning is completed. We can continue to provide service on a biweekly basis to assist with optimization of chemical usage and removal efficiency.
