Control Systems Panels for One of the World’s Largest Nickel Mines

JNE Automation was contracted by Siemens Canada to provide all of the control systems panels for a large-tonnage, long-life nickel and cobalt mining enterprise in Madagascar.

The mine is the largest foreign investment in Madagascar and one of the biggest in the sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean region. It continues to rank among the largest lateritic nickel mining entities in the world.

Siemens Canada was awarded the contract by a major engineering company to provide the control systems for this project. The company provided the design and programming for the control systems with assistance from Siemens Canada. JNE Automation was awarded the contract by Siemens Canada to provide all of the control system panels consisting of Siemens PCS-7 equipment, including:

  • 96 Remote I/O Panels

  • 17 Processor Panels
  • 4 Server Panels

The success of the project lead to an additional opportunity directly from the engineering company, who contracted JNE Automaton to supply 200 field junction boxes.
