Pet Food Package Line Relocation

Pet Food Package Line Relocation

Upgrades to Processing Plant to Yield Higher Quality Products

JNE Consulting was retained by a leading pet food producer to provide engineering and design support for the relocation and updating of packaging lines at their processing plant.

Design for the new packaging line consisted of new multi-level bin enclosure, rooftop platforms, pipe supports, snow load increase roof strengthening. and improvements to the heating and power supply of the existing building.

JNE delivered basic and detailed civil/structural engineering that included foundation, structural steel, and water-proofing, along with pipe and conveyor support work. Electrical and piping engineering support was brought in to complete the work for the heating, ventilation, and power to the facility.

The project team had to overcome additional work created by changes in the scope requirements midway through the project. Frequent communication between the disciplines helped resolve the additional workload by providing all team members a clear plan of action for the project. For example, JNE worked with the client’s mechanical and electrical departments in St. Louis to verify site conditions, layout, and optimum routing.

Furthermore, JNE was able to reduce project costs by providing the specifications and laying out the roof top diverter valve “dog houses”.

The project team was able to create a unique design that permitted the plant to operate under the proper Canadian codes and regulations. The entire plant was designed to maintain a dust-free environment to ensure the manufactured products are of the highest quality and free of contamination.
